We have a mango!

Baby Vaesa: Vernix caseosa, a greasy white substance made of lanugo, oil and dead skin cells (yum) now coats baby's skin, shielding it from the amniotic fluid. (Picture yourself after a nine-month bath, and the need for protection makes sense.) You might actually get to see the vernix at birth, especially if baby is premature. He/she loves to dance in my belly and I am feeling it, nothing really constant, but feel it mostly in the afternoons. July 8th is the day we find out how healthy our babe is and if we are going to have a son or a daughter. I have had three dreams that it is a boy.

Momma: Lots of energy and crazy dreams that we have the baby but nothing for him/her or that I forget to feed him/her. These dreams have now caused me to make a master to-do list of everything I want to get done before the babe arrives. I may have to call in the reinforcments to get everything done! Watch out daddy...you are going to be busy! :)

Daddy: celebratred Father to be Day with a new set of tool boxes that he picked out. He helps me out so much and I cannot wait to see him with a baby! He will probably have more patience than me! He goes along with my crazy ideas and laughs at my insane dreams and tells me everything will be just fine!

Other news: We went to Sarasota, FL for a couple of days with my mom's side of the family. It was great to see the King family that we only get to see once a year! The weather was warm and the ocean salty....perfect! My immediate family (aka mom, dad, emily, and jenny) are driving to Cincy this morning to pick up a new puppy, a little boy named Jesse. Can't wait to meet him!

Well, that is all for now, lots of love and hugs until we see you!

17 weeks!

Baby Vaesa: Baby's skeleton is hardening, changing from rubbery cartilage to bone, and fat is finally accumulating around it. The umbilical cord is getting thicker and stronger, and those little fingers and toes are now topped by one-of-a-kind prints.
Baby Vaesa has also been moving around a lot, nothing consistent yet and nothing that I can feel on the outside with my hand, bu the kicks are getting stronger!

This is a short post this week, Alan's brother is up from Florida to help us work on the bathrooms, so more house remodeling! This Saturday Alan and I will head down to Sarasota, FL to for a vacation with my mom's side of the family. It will be great to see family that we only get to see once a year!

I Heard That!

Baby Vaesa: Watch what you say... tiny bones forming in baby's ears mean the little one can now pick up your voice. Eyebrows, lashes and hair are starting to fill in, and taste buds are forming. And, if you're interested, an ultrasound might be able to determine gender. We went to the doctor today and heard the heartbeat at 150 and all seems great. We scheduled "the big" ultrasound for July 8th! So excited to find out if we are to buy pink or blue!

Momma: All was great with me at the doctor's blood pressure was 110/70 the nurse said "perfect as always!" I love her! I had gone up either a pound and a half or two pounds since last time. So total I think I have put on 4 pounds? Dr. L didn't seemed concerned, so guess I will pick up the weight soon enough! I'm in no hurry!

Daddy: is wonderful, surprised me by coming to the doctor's today. I told him he didn't have to go, all I was going to do was pee in a cup, get weight and b/p, and listen for the heartbeat; but he came anyway! What a great daddy! :)

Jenny and I went out Sunday while Alan was at the fire station to price baby items. Baby Depot (located in Burlington Coat Factory) had very reasonable prices. We did find some ideas that are very gender neutral. Yes we are finding out the gender, but obviously we don't know what our future children will be, so to save money we are going with all gender neutral baby equipment. This way if it is a boy or girl you can either add more boyish things or more girlish things. These are just some thoughts, no definite decisions have been made yet.
