Attention Mommas...Tell Me the Truth

I am going to be applying for a grant that will allow me to create a manual/book. I want to reach out to mothers (first timers or experienced mommas, makes no difference) and create something that will help them  regarding their health (possibly the health of their newborn as well). Ideas are still flowing on this side. So I need your input please. Was there anything about pregnancy, childbirth or postpartum that you felt you needed more information on? I know that there seemed to be a lot of information I was lacking on the postpartum topic and caring for my newborn (and yes, I took a lot of classes) So if you could, leave me a comment about what you would have liked to know more about. And if you don't mind, let me know if you took any classes and the type (Bradley, hospital, etc).

Thanks in advance!

I wish I would have had better instructions regarding what was "allowed" during my PP recovery. (i.e. can I take a bath, how long should this hurt, what can I get OTC to make it better, when should I be worried, etc) GL and I think this is a great idea.

Well, little things come to mind like carseat installation and not having the handle up while the car is in motion, not every baby likes pacis or bottles, etc. I remember thinking when the nurses left the room after moving us to the PP recovery room, "wait, they are just leaving us with an infant? They trust us to do this???" LOL I wasn't entirely sure how much baby poweder to use in the diaper, how long they could go between changings (do you change them every time they tinkle, every hour even if nothings in there?) I felt sooo cluless even after the classes we took and being a bumpie!

RSV! My DD got it at 3 1/2 months (hospitalized for 7 days) and I only new it was not a good thing. She is still battling it! No one talks about what to do/feel when you have a sick child! I always tell all my friends, I could have read every book but none of them talked about having a sick child.

PP stuff! I was always more worried about how much I would bleed, if I would pass clots, and just being in horrible pain without meds. But it ended up not being that bad at all. What no one warned me of was how I could be COMPLETELY INCONTINENT!! And how that could last a few weeks. It was horrible and I was so embarrassed to even walk down the street for fear of peeing my pants!

Also, people told me that BFing would be difficult, but they never warned me of infections. Obviously, those people did not suffer from infections, but I had an abscess (not mastitis) and then we both got Thrush. Horrible. I almost gave up.
